Elegant dome sapphire earrings by British jeweller Kassandra Lauren Gordon.
The minimalist earrings are made in recycled silver and are available in 18ct gold vermeil with red or white sapphire stones, rose gold vermeil with golden sapphire stones and black rhodium on sterling silver with orange sapphire stones. The sapphire gemstones have a diameter of circa 3mm. The inside diameter of the ear studs' dome measures approx. 8mm.
Herschel's Eye is paying homage to Caroline Herschel (1750 – 1848). Caroline was a German astronomer whose most significant contributions to astronomy were the discoveries of several comets, in particular the periodic comet 35P/Herschel-Rigollet which bears her name. She was the first woman to be awarded a Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society and to be named Honorary Member of the Royal Astronomical Society.
Kassandra Lauren Gordon jewellery satiates the desire of professional women for elegant handmade jewellery that can be worn seamlessly in professional as well as casual contexts. All pieces are handmade from precious metals and gemstones in her London studio. Kassandra studied jewellery manufacture and design in Hatton Gardens before setting up her own jewellery label. Her Jamaican heritage is reprented by the 'ackee' in the label's logo, Jamaica's national fruit. Many pieces of her jewellery collection are named after inspirational female scientists. Kassandra seeks to create designs of playful minimalism that allow ladies to bring character to their otherwise bland work clothes.
